POINTERS FROM THE PROS
Preventing Damage to Summer Hair
by Tessa Price
After another long and harsh winter, it's almost time for summer!
But the sunshine and chlorine that define the season can also damage
hair. Reflections Hair Design pro Tessa Price recommends easy
steps to minimize and even prevent ultraviolet and chemical damage:
- Soak before you swim! Don't jump in the pool before
wetting your hair and/or spritzing it with conditioner. A quality
product like Paul Mitchell's Awapuhi Moisture Mist prevents
most of the chlorine from soaking in hair.
- Clarify after you chlorinate! Use Paul Mitchell's
Shampoo 3 or Kenra's Clarifying Shampoo once or twice
weekly in place of your regular shampoo. These clarifying formulas
prevent chlorine build-up—and their scent is delightful.
- Snip your splits! Visit Reflections Hair Design every four to
eight weeks for a trim. This prevents hair from splitting at the
shaft and removes damaged ends for a healthier, more finished
look.
- Quality hair requires quality products. Stylists at Reflections
Hair Design can help you select the best products to keep your
tresses in tip-top shape. We carry a full line of premium options.
- Shield hair from harmful rays. Products with sunscreens and
conditioners protect hair from sun damage and prevent color from
fading. One to try: Paul Mitchell's Color Protect Locking Spray.
And remember, all Paul Mitchell hairsprays contain sunscreen.
